  How You Can Help

Volunteer on the administrative level with FOHCAS by serving on the Board.
Volunteer to help us save more adoptable animals by transporting them to off-site adoption events at pet stores in the metropolitan Atlanta area. FOHCAS takes animals for adoption biweekly on Saturdays & Sundays to PETsMART/PetCo in various locations in the North Gwinnett County area. We desperately need help to make this work. Our staff can't do it alone.

Attend board meetings at the Clarkesville-Habersham County Library on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. We currently have two vacant executive positions on the Board of Directors, and we're always looking for candidates who wish to serve.

Donate money— give a dollar, give a thousand, give any amount, but please give. You may choose to give to the general account, Rescue Transport,  Sunshine Medical funds, or Izzy's Promise.

Give stuff— leashes, collars, a jug of bleach, kitty litter, a box of laundry detergent, dog food, blankets, towels, treats and toys.

Foster homeless pets. We always need foster parents to house and care for pets with special needs; especially nursing animals and injured pets. Visit our foster care page for more information.

Tell us what you think! Submit this online survey click here.

Invite FOHCAS to present a program for your organization.

Membership is another way to help FOHCAS. Please see the membership page for a level that fits your lifestyle. You'll receive a membership decal, quarterly newsletters, and special email announcements. You also receive the opportunity to vote in annual membership meetings and attend other FOHCAS functions.

Adopt! If you're looking for a pet, please adopt! We plan to have keep adoptable dogs and cats in our new facility in September 2008, and you can always adopt at the John B. Gesbocker Animal Shelter.

As of September 2008, FOHCAS will stop receiving our monthly $5,425 from Habersham County. FOHCAS will no longer be running the John B. Gesbocker Animal Shelter, but will move into a rescue-type role. We will then rely solely on donations!

Opportunities to give:

Your check in any amount, made out to FOHCAS, Inc.

Mail to FOHCAS, Inc., P.O. Box 1442, Clarkesville GA 30523

FOHCAS allows you to make memorial donations as gifts in honor or in memory of a beloved pet or friend. When you make a charitable gift, you can request a certificate suitable for presenting to the gift recipient.

You may also speak to us if you are interested in a bequest of a specific sum, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after expenses and gifts to loved ones. Bequests can include cash, securities, real estate, houses, and personal property such as valuable collections, art, or jewelry.

Living trusts are a popular choice because the terms of a living trust, unlike a will, can be put into effect immediately upon your death, bypassing probate and keeping the terms private. Please talk to your attorney about these options.
