A Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter, Inc. initiative
Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter, Inc. (FOHCAS) established The Snip Spot in February 2026 with one clear goal: to expand access to affordable spay and neuter services in Hardin County and the surrounding region. For years, our community has faced the challenge of pet overpopulation—resulting in overcrowded shelters, strain on public resources, and preventable suffering for dogs and cats. The Snip Spot was created to increase the capacity of low-cost spay/neuter services so that more families can responsibly care for their pets and fewer animals enter the shelter system.
FOHCAS now offers two low-cost spay/neuter options through the Snip Spot and our partnership with Hardin County Animal Care and Control. Together, these two locations significantly increase the number of pets that can be spayed and neutered each year—helping reduce unwanted litters and improving the long-term health of animals throughout Hardin County and neighboring counties.
OUR SUCCESS DEPENDS ON YOU
Our commitment since the first days of FOHCAS has been to reduce barriers pet owners face to spay/neuter their pet. Much of our fundraising goes to subsidizing the cost of spay/neuter which includes vet services, surgical supplies and medications. We also ask pet owners to pay a fee to help offset some of those costs - but YOUR generosity helps us to cover the remainder of the costs. The success of our spay/neuter effortsndepends on community support. Individuals and businesses can make a direct, life-changing impact. Without your support, more unwanted animals would be filling shelters and our neighborhoods.
